Dan Lawrence was finally able to look with happy eyes towards his Peugeot engines after the Canadian GP quals:

"I am pleased with the overall team performance in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix.

The whole team has worked very hard. The Peugeot technicians finally sorted out the engine problems we have been having recently and have given me a firm assurance that we will receive no engine failures for the rest of 2000..." (i am praying!!).

Scott steadily improved the car all through practice and was on course for a 1m16.3xx but lost traction through the final chicane and spun the car. He managed to get the car back to the pits with no damage and set his 5th position 2 seconds before the flag came out to herald the end of qualifying.

Scott commented "Im a little disappointed with my results. I was hoping for a top 3 start but 5th is my best qualifying of the season and I am in good position for a podium finish for the race. The car feels great for the race. Im not gonna make any big changes at all."

Glenn Bowen had a better session than at Silverstone but was still struggling with the car. He had a variety of brake problems and couldn't push as hard as he would have liked to.

Glenn commented "After the disaster at Silverstone I was hoping that I could do really well at Montreal. Thanks to being pulled into the weigh bridge twice during qualifying we lost valuable data from the car. I also suffered a very spongy brake pedal during the session - so much so that I was only able to complete 9 of my alotted 12 laps.

This meant I was having to brake a good 5 metres before I should have, add that to each corner & that accounts for my lack of speed. Didn't manage to hit the sweet spot at all..... I think that Scott has paid off my mechanics!! We already have several strategy options for the race, so hopefully we can move forward during the race."

My hopes for the race are obviously rested on Scotts very capable shoulders. I am confident that he can gain a few positions in the race and give us our second podium finish of 2000.

Glenn will have a better race than his qualifying performance has suggested and he should be able to score a few points for us."
