The Masters Series will return in 2011 for the GPVWC for its third season.

Report

Race Weekend Format

Two races per ‘round’. Consisting of a 25 minute or feature race, and a 15 minute sprint race. The starting grid for Race 2 will be the reversed results of Race 1.

  • Practice = 20 minutes
  • Qualifying = 10 minutes
  • Warm-up = 5 minutes
  • Race 1 (Feature) = 25 minutes
  • Race 2 (Sprint) = 15 minutes (Reverse Grid)

Series Changes

For 2011 the race times for both rounds will remain the same as 2010, however each race will have a absolute lap length in order to avoid issues such as under filling fuel in the cars due to miscalculation of the race length. The lap count for each race will be declared prior to the event based on the length of the lap time at any given track.

Three car teams also make a return for 2011 in order to allow for bigger grids due to popular demand. A maximum grid size has not yet been imposed but a decision will be made after pre-season testing on the size of the grid, in the event of more cars entered than slots available the times of qualifying will declare those that are allowed to enter the 2 races.

The series schedule has been lengthened to 14 rounds with the single round event dropped from 2010, the dates of the series will be decided in the future however the series will not run into the next calendar year to allow for a more tightly packed schedule.

Scoring system

Points will be awarded to the top 12 classified finishers. Fastest lap and Pole Position for the Feature Race yeild a point each.
