The amount of team slots was reduced from 14 to 13 for the 2017 season, with the GPVWC Management citing a desire to promote quality over quantity in GPVWC series in 2017.

Team changes
- 2016 Teams' Championship winners Team Proline elected not to continue in the Career Ladder in 2017. Subsequently, Streetfighter Racing Systems were promoted to the Superleague.
- Neither Proline, Enterprise GP, GoSport International or Ice Cold Racing continued into the 2017 season.
New entries
- Cosmo Autosport, [Deltec Racing Team]], Epic Racing, [Hinss Motorsport]] and Zedderick Racing were all promoted from the Formula Challenge.
Returning entries
- Draig Racing made their return to Supercup after a six-year absence.
