THR is a simracing team which mainly competes in touring car and sports car championships on rFactor and Game Stock Car in various communities. THR has won the teams and drivers championships in both the 2013/14 International Touring Cup season and the 2014 International Touring Cup season.

History

THR was originally founded prior to the 2010 RDCAT league, with the drivers Toby Davis, Chris Butcher and Adam Vaughan entered to race. Initially the name 'THR' stood for Tard Helmet Racing, as this was a nickname given to Toby and Chris when racing in RaceDepartment club events - they were the 'Tard Helmets'. Inevitably, the moniker has since been dropped and the team are now known only as THR.

Since the RDCAT league and the subsequent dominance of the early rounds, the team has been built gradually, recruiting drivers initally for early forays into the Touring Pro Series, and for the first season of the Virtual Clio Series, there were 5 or 6 drivers, and it was at this time that Adam Vaughan took the first championship for THR driving in a blue THR machine.

THR also entered 4 cars into the Virtual V8 Supercars 2011 season, whilst also entering RDLMS (an endurance league) with a multitude of drivers.

By the end of 2011 THR had signed William Levesque and Jesper Taulborg to the team, who were to become two of the strongest drivers. By this point, THR was becoming a serious organisation, but the team never lost sight of the fact that fun can be had between events, having played various other games as a team, and also organising a trip to Oulton Park for that year's round of the BTCC.

2012 saw the birth of the THR identity. Yves Larose designed a new logo, and a method of fitting it into the car design, which rapidly became the recognised 'THR brand.'

At the same time, THR took the three colours for which they had become so synonymous thanks to various championship wins, which were orange, red and blue, and turned them into three teams for the 2012 edition of the Virtual V8 Supercars. At this time THR also linked up with Precision Motorsports and Nocturne (with Peter Duivelaar and Tom Eley respectively) for the attempts at the second season of the Virtual Clio Series and 2012 Virtual V8 Supercars. Red and Orange became the two leading teams, whilst Blue turned into the development team.

William Levesque ended up winning the second season of the Virtual Clio Series with a dominant performance, whilst Jesper Taulborg ended up taking the Virtual V8 Supercars title. After RPM dissolved, THR acquired James Johnson and Robert Wiesenmüller, who have since become two of the most committed drivers. THR were forced to expand their teams to 5 recognised outfits, with THR Green and THR Purple coming in to bolster the entries. THR Orange has been the most successful colour, and has won in every championship it has entered, but recently THR Red has been catching up and has also won two team championships.

2012 also saw THR break through into real-world gaming competition, with Chris Butcher competing against 15 of the top UK racing gamers, in the Red Bull Gridsters competition, held at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Chris dominated the event, winning an all expenses paid VIP trip to that year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In 2013, Chris visited the Red Bull Racing factory, including a 1-on-1 Q&A session with triple and current world champion Sebastien Vettel, plus a training session in the RBR simulator.

THR Red gave the team a bumper start in 2013, with both Chris Butcher and Robert Wiesenmüller both fighting tooth and nail for the drivers title in VMC. Both were the class of the field, and were keen to seal their maiden drivers title on the Touring Pro Series. Unfortunately, fate came into play, with hardware failure preventing Chris taking the title fight to the final race. That cleared the way for Robert to take a commanding victory, with THR Red still easily claiming the team's title.

At this point, Wiesenmüller became part of the team management, helping Butcher and Davis develop other areas of THR.

Then in the summer it was onto the Tom Onslow-Cole Clio series and the 2013 Virtual V8 Supercars. With the amazing prizes on offer, this saw the action on track taken to a new level, with Precision Motorsports committing to the Touring Pro Series. TOCCS saw one most fierce rivalries to develop within the TPS between THR and PM. The intense racing ultimately saw THR lose out in the drivers title, but still manage to take a convincing team title. Elsewhere, the VV8S championships had all the hallmarks of a classic, with the fight between THR's Taulborg and PM's Rietveld sure to go down to the wire, until Precision inexplicably retired from the season, handing the title to Jesper and THR Orange.

For 2014, THR are competing for the first time in the GPVWC in the 2013/14 International Touring Cup season. Team owner Toby Davis and Swedish driver Adrian Holm are competing in this championship, whilst the team are also entering the Formula Challenge with Toby Davis and David Jundt.

With a stable of 6 TPS race winners, THR has become one of the strongest simracing teams in touring car racing.

ITC

2013/14 season

THR were competing for the first time in the GPVWC in the 2013/14 International Touring Cup season. Team owner Toby Davis and Swedish driver Adrian Holm signed up as full-time drivers in the BMW 3-Series E90, while David Jundt was on duty as a reserve driver. The season started off well, when Davis already took a win at the first event at Imola. Throughout the season, THR turned out to be the dominant team, taking no less than 10 victories. Davis and Holm were matched on pace, however Davis was forced to miss the race at Troyton, at which Jundt filled in and immediately won as well. In the end, Adrian Holm secured the championship title ahead of Toby Davis, while the team won the teams championship comfortably with over 250 points ahead of Torrent Motorsports.

2014 season

THR returned with the same line-up for the next season, however switched cars to the front-wheel-driven Chevrolet Cruze. Both drivers were setting the pace once again. Holm won 3 races in the beginning of the season, while Davis had a troubled start with game problems and incidents. At halfway mark, Holm ran into some problems and decided to drop out of the championship. A replacement was found in Eric Stranne, who competed for various teams before and was not too far behind the championship leaders. Stranne immediately won his first two races with THR material and stormed to the championship title, with Davis finishing 4th overall. THR won 10 races again and the teams championship, this time closely followed by Vod:Bul Racing.

2015 season

THR will return once again. This time the cars will stay the same (Chevrolet Cruze), but Adrian Holm and John Munro will form the driver line-up. In addition, THR will launch a cooperation with Measuric Racing which will see Robert Wiesenmüller and Chris Butcher compete for that team.

World Sport Series

2015 season

THR decided to enter the World Sport Series with Ross McGregor and David Jundt. McGregor immediately took pole and won the first race.

Formula Challenge

2014 season

THR entered the championship with David Jundt and Robert Wiesenmüller. It started off well with a win for Jundt and two podiums for Wiesenmueller, however Robert's wheel broke and he did not return in order to concentrate on other leagues. Adrian Holm and David Carter replaced him briefly, until a long-term replacement was found in Juha Tuunainen. It was a difficult season for the team, but Jundt was still a force in the championship, winning 4 races and finishing 2nd overall. The team placed 4th in the end, and subsequently decided to pull out to focus on touring car leagues in the future.

Masters

2014 season

David Jundt won the championship with the support of THR. In the first race at Daytona, he competed alone in a THR/Basilea entry and finished 2nd. In Indianapolis, he drove for THR with support of Ivan Navarro and finished 4th. In the Le Mans 24 hours, THR entered a team consisting of Jundt, Davis, Navarro, Tommi Ojala and Chris Butcher. Davis got pole position, but after some problems the team finished 4th. Nonetheless it was enough for Jundt to claim the title.

Drivers

THR has a pool of drivers that compete for the team in various communities.
