Been going through the archives with Wayback Machine again and I've found a few pages from both the original GPVWC site and it's successor, as well as a few team sites relating to 2001. Although the season was cut short there's surprisingly a lot of stuff relating to 2001 and so hopefully it can fill in a few gaps.

Seems they tweaked the points system for 2001 with the top 11 scoring - 20,16,13,10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1 plus 1pt for pole and 1pt for fastest lap.

I have to say that Arela site is a real find - not only is it still live after 10 years, it also contains some race images that I'll upload to the wiki shortly. :) --Chris williamson 10:11, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Fantastic stuff Chris. Arela's website wasn't working properly for me, but I loaded it up in Internet Explorer and stuck on 'compatibility mode' and hey presto, the menu links worked! We need to confirm the points systems for 2002 onward now. I seem to remember 2002 had a point for fastest lap and pole also, but the points were... more stingy than the previous two years. --Mal McKee 22:30, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

OK, according to the Arela website, it looks as though there were three more races in 2001 than the three we have. And I do seem to remember people like Hagarty featuring more strongly. San Marino was either cancelled, or Arela didn't update the website for the race event. Unfortunately Arela's results only seem to feature the top 6 drivers (plus their own). --Mal McKee 23:22, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
