Tanskanen Racing is a Finnish former racing team ran by, and named for, Juha Tanskanen. Tanskanen Racing has appeared in the Superleague, in 2008, the Masters Series and the Megane Trophy, both in 2009, and, more recently in Formula Challenge, from 2013-2014.

History

Tanskanen's entry into the 2008 Superleague season
Tanskanen's 2009 Masters Series entry

Tanskanen's early appearances were relatively brief; as, literally a vehicle purely for Juha Tanskanen himself, the team did not appear in races that Juha did not take part in. In 2008, Tanskanen officially took part in just the first two 2 races in Superleague, retiring from one and failing to start the other, while in the 2009 Masters Series, the team appeared for only the first round, although Tanskanen did score 5 points.

Tanskanen's later revival in Formula Challenge was by far its most successful and longest-lasting period. The circumstances surrounding its creation were unusual, however; Juha Tanskanen had joined Mike Pitman in a managerial position of the revived Vod:Bul Racing, which applied for a position in Formula Challenge for the 2013 season. Just days before the start of the season, Vod:Bul were granted a position in the Supercup, leaving a void where their entry in Formula Challenge would have been. Tanskanen Racing was reborn as the successor to Vod:Bul's original entry and in some regards acted as a junior team to Vod:Bul's new team in the Supercup.

For the 2013 season the team began with former double-Superleague champion Mikko Jakonen as its lead driver. After a series of relatively-low points finishes, Tanskanen's fortunes were transformed by the mid-season signing of rising Dutch star Douwe Tapper who would go on to win six wins and a further 5 podiums, taking the team to 4th in the final standings of the teams' championship.

For the 2014 season Tanskanen were one of the early favourites for the championship, having missed out on the chance for promotion to the Supercup the year before. An exciting, all-English line up of James Johnson and Jonathan Holmes came home to score an historic 1-2 at the very first race of the season; however, despite numerous wins and podiums apiece, the team waned and it became obvious that Juha Tanskanen's participation was beginning to lessen, due to illness. Some controversy arose over the extent of Tanskanen's running of his own team in regards to the involvement of Pitman, who by now had his own Superleague team and had also entered into a partnership with Streetfighter Racing Systems in Supercup. Despite rallying, somewhat, towards the end of the season, snatching 2nd in the championship in the very final race, Tanskanen's involvement with Vod:Bul Racing was subsequently ended and the team did not apply for the 2015 season.
