Quali/Race results to wiki table spreadsheet

I've uploaded the spreadsheet I've set up to generate the classification tables from the results page on the main site. It can be found here: Download link (Mediafire)

To use it just paste in the quali results, race results and fastest lap standings on the first sheet and grab the table from the 'quali output' or 'race output' sheets and paste it into the wiki. Note you might have to adjust manually in the race gaps column to get it looking right, as well as filling any gaps and taking out blank rows. If you have any questions let me know.

Main Page

Any chance we can switch back to the previous main page until the other is completed? Can't seem to find things as easily now. :P --Chris williamson 22:35, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Re Template:WIP

Are you not able to lock pages?

I'm not sure. I can protect them from editing, which is maybe the same thing. Does it need locked? --Mal McKee 00:05, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Internet archeology

Had a little look around the interwebs earlier and managed to unearth some more fossilized remains from the league's history (strangely most seems to be circa 2004-5):

Nice detective work! I remember Amon F2 - what was the name of the guy who ran it? --Mal McKee 21:04, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
His name was Mat Cochinos, although I never knew he was involved in simracing until now lol. --Chris williamson 22:41, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

2000/2001

A found little bit more for you on 2000/2001 which should help fill some of the blanks. More info at Talk:2000 Superleague season and Talk:2001 Superleague season‎‎.

Constructors entered in only one competition

I saw you've created a few new pages for some early teams today and noticed you'd been using the just Superleague team infoboxes. This got me thinking - where a team has only entered one competition is it worth having 2 separate pages (Constructor page and SL/SC/MS team page)? Since the content is likely to be duplicated on the 2nd page (albeit with a different infobox) it's perhaps unnecessary.

I'd propose the following convention:

  • 1 competition constructors - single page, SL/SC/MS infobox, Category:Constructors & Category:XXX team.
  • Multiple competition constructors - constructors page with addition pages for each SL/SC/MS subteam.

Would that meet with your approval? --Chris williamson 10:25, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

The thing is, teams can only enter one competition, ever, full stop. Constructors, on the other hand, can enter various competitions - the Superleague, Supercup, Masters, Trophies, Endurance, etc etc.
So only the constructors pages should have any kind of multiple competition infobox.
Synergetic F1, Stealth F1, and Nijo Racing SL can only, and have only, ever entered the Superleague.
Synergetic F2, Stealth F2, and Nijo Racing SC can only, and have only, ever entered the Supercup.
Synergetic Motorsports, Stealth GP and Nijo Racing, on the other hand, as constructors, can enter teams in any competition, or multiple competitions.
So far, because I've not been concentrating on sorting that part of the wiki out, I've just created either a 'team' or a 'constructor' page for some of the teams I've been adding. Yes - for those teams (especially many pre-2005 teams) there will be only one competition they'll have entered.. so there'll deffo be a lot of duplicated info. Shouldn't be a problem though, and I think we should stick to this so the logic is clear.
Basically it's so that each page can concentrate on the relevant competition and reduce the number of tables and the amount of information. Take Synergetic for example - it's only been in the league for about half the league's life, but it has entered teams in the Masters, the Megane Trophy, the Superleague and the Supercup so far. One page for all that info, especially if I was wanting to use a lot of tables, would be a bit too long.
I think that's what you're asking, unless I've completely misunderstood! That's the way I had envisaged things anyway - I had the same kind of problem with the first Wiki, too - and sorting it like this seemed to solve the problem. We're not limited too much on space, so don't worry about that. --Mal McKee 11:56, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I was thinking more of a combined page for some of the less notable constructors who only entered 1 competition, but I see your point now. --Chris williamson 15:25, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Double nationality teams

Hi Mal, for clarity reasons (and automation purposes) all teams with a double nationality (like Simsoa, Mapes-VO) were generally assigned only one. I see you have been giving out double ones but we might want to stick to the 1-team,1-country rule. --William Ponissi

OK. If there are any which we're unsure of, I'll probably ask you, Andy, Joe or someone else who's still around from the older days.

Sideviews

Hey Mal, the other day I was thinking I'd get cracking on some of those sideviews from the 2000 season since you sent me the bitmaps a while back. However when I took a look at A-Racing I noticed the Woody Woodpecker and it sparked a memory of you asking about it in the forum - did you ever get that finished? If so I'll skip that one (and the others from that year if you've already claimed them). --Chris williamson 07:53, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
