The Challenge Portuguese Grand Prix was originally slated to have been part of the inaugural Formula Challenge season in 2012 but problems with the Circuito da Boavista in Porto led to the event being dropped. The event was reintroduced for the 2015 season and will be held instead at the Algarve International Circuit, Portimão.
