Report

Qualifying

Again it was the Torrent Motorsports drivers who were able to take the first row. Petter Kaasa took the pole with team mate Rickard Hellsten beside him. Pavel Loknovski did a good job taking the 3rd place, with Dave Carr-Smith behind him in 4th. David Fidock had yet another good qualifying taking 5th position. Jason Muscat was able to drive his car to 6th place. Alex Cooper drove his CSG Racing car to the 7th spot of the grid, with Philip Cullen behind him as 8th. The 5th row was taken by Maltese driver Terence Grech and North-Irelands driver Andrew Morgan. Ojay Clark (11th) and Adam Rouse (12th) took row 6. Australian drivers Louis Wedekind and William Tringas made the 7th row. Roy Schroten had a bad qualifing run, and couldn't come further than a 15th place, just before Boyd Bryson who started in 16th. Ric Scott took 17th place, in front of Ryan Walker (18th, Teemu Toikka (19th) and both NRT Racing drivers Andrejs Pestovs (20th) and Martin O'Connor (21st). Alex Rolls drove his Innervision car to 22nd place. The 12th row was taken by Martin Bulgin and Mal McKee. The last row was filled by Chris Williamson and Tommi Koivunen respectively.

Race

Due to a thunder storm in Malta, Jason Muscat disconnected in the warm up lap. The Race Directors decided to re-start the session.

In the second warm-up lap the field brake checked through the last turn, and an un-aware Boyd Bryson lightly tapped Roy's car.

The second time everything went well and it was Ryan Walker and Roy Schroten who had the best starts. But Roy then spun his car later in the first lap after locking up the brakes into the first tight left-right chicane at the end of the first back straight. Ryan was able to drive his car to 8th place after the start.

It was Petter who kept the lead before team mate Rickard. David Fidock had a jump start and had to do a stop-and-go penalty. David has had bad luck the whole season, but in the paddock people expect a podium soon from the English driver.

Pavel also had some problems at the start of the race, but could keep his pace and would eventualy even set the fastest time of the race, the first time it was not a Torrent driver who did.

The race also saw championchip contender Rickard retire, as well as Jason and Andrew.

At the finish it was Petter Kaasa who took the full points at the race were his rivals weren't able to take any. He did a grand job in the season standings. Ojay Clark took a surprising 2nd place. Philip Cullen took the last place on the podium, finishing 3rd. David managed to drive his car to the 4th place, despite his stop-and-go. The difference between second and fourth was only 1 second! Pavel drove his Hawkeye to a 5th place, and the South African driver Boyd drove his car to a surprising 6th place. Ryan crossed the line as 7th, shortly followed by Adam. Alex was able to overtake Roy in the last lap, because the last named had to drive the whole race on the same tyres due to technical problems. Alex finished 9th and Roy took the last point as 10th.
