Roy's first races were at the BRO league, one of the best leagues in The Netherlands. When it changed its future plans, Roy decided to leave the league to go international. He found the GPROC, in which many GPVWC drivers drive. He also drove some endurance races at SRO with Ben Warren and Teemu Toikka. He drives in the VE-NASCAR league, and his newest project, the Sprint Cars. He will drove in the SRNZ Sprint Cars league, his first dirt experience. He has also driven in the RD Rally Championchip. His plans for the future are clear, to drive in as many different cars as possible, saying, "I always like to explore other cars and other leagues. I like the idea that with every car you have to chance your driving style. I learn a lot from it and it improves my driving skills".

He qualified in eighth and at the start he has one of his well-known starts, moving up to second place. At the Hungaroring, Roy had a grid penalty and had to start at 18th. He once again had a fantastic start and moved to eighth. After five laps Adam Rouse was able to catch up on Roy. He took no risks of losing points, so he let Rouse by. Then a little spin closed the gap between him and Terence Grech to four seconds. Roy decided to do a late pit stop to change tyres and after the stop, he had a six second gap. But Terence was too fast and caught Roy. The Dutchman showed an increasing maturity and decided that he really wanted points so he took no big risks defending Terence. Terence overtook him on the inside of turn one, surprising Schroten. Roy then drove with no risks to the end and finished tenth, taking another point.

After that new teams were aproved and he decided to make his own team, with help of Mike, which they called Racing Team Schroten and joined the Supercup with it. He had some good results, but had to learn a lot. In 2012 Roy decided to withdraw his team from the Supercup to join Synergetic Motorsports. With that team his tallent was discovered. HE scored points every race, exept for two races were he had big crashes, luckly walked away from it unharmed. Roy Schroten is a Dutch sim-racer who currently drives for CSG Racing in the GPVWC Supercup. He is also the owner of Racing Team Schroten. Roy competed in the Supercup throughout 2012, taking his first first podium at the Turkish Grand Prix and pole position at Monza.

Early Sim-Racing Career

Roy's first races were at the BRO league, one of the best leagues in The Netherlands. When it changed its future plans, Roy decided to leave the league to go international. He found the GPROC, in which many GPVWC drivers drive. He also drove some endurance races at SRO with Ben Warren and Teemu Toikka. Supercup

2011

Roy in action driving for Racing Team Schroten during the 2011 season.

Roy Schroten's debut in the Supercup at the Turkish Grand Prix in 2011. He finished at a good 14th position. Roy drove that race for Triple-Double Racing. At the Mexico he couldn't drive and he went on to start Racing Team Schroten with his brother, Mike Schroten.

At the Montreal he drove his first race for his own team. He qualified at the 17th position and after a very good start he was tenth. At the finish he was ninth and scored his first points. That were also the first points for Racing Team Schroten. At the Brazilian Grand Prix there was a disappointing result with 14th. At Monza Roy had a very disappointing race. He had a good start and after a good fight with some others Roy drove 8th but he crashed out of the race. For the Spanish Grand Prix, Roy had one of his great starts, and went up to as high as seventh place, gaining ten positions. Everything went well until Roy had contact with the car of Tom Parker and spun. He finished as 11th, just out of the points.

At Spa Roy again had one of this great starts and went up to tenth position. But after a fault where he went slow out of the corner, Tom and Roy again had a accident and they both crashed. Roy managed to finish the race in a broken car at the 14th and last position. At Zandvoort Roy really wanted to give anything he had at his home race. Roy qualified in 13th, and after one of his great starts Roy climbed to seventh position. He went on to finish in seventh, just a tenth of a second behind Wopke Hoekstra. He wasn't the best Dutch guy, but was very happy with his best result ever and a mistake free race.

At the season finale in Singapore, Roy couldn't get a good result. Roy qualified as 12th, his best qualifying of the season. At the start he went from 12th to sixth, but then it went all wrong. He crashed, but could rejoin the race. But the car was to damaged to drive and after ten laps his race was over. At the end of the season Roy scored six points and was classified 28th overall. During the post-season awards ceremony voted on by his peers, Roy was awarded the 'Best Starter of the Season' award.

2012

Roy Schroten took part in the 2012 season for Synergetic Motorsports, after Racing Team Schroten failed to earn a spot on the grid. At the first race in Melbourne, he qualified as 13th. But because of the server problems, he had to start a lowly 25th. At the start, Roy had a great start and drove as 14th when Martin Bulgin spun his car in front of him, causing a missive pile up. Roy even flew upside-down, but he could continue the race, after a long sit stop. While the race was going, the game minimized and he lost his wings and had to do another un-planned stop. He finished the race in 14th.

At the Chinese Grand Prix he wanted to prove what he could for his team. He qualified in eighth and at the start he has one of his well-known starts, moving up to second place. At the hairpin after the long back straight he managed to out-brake David Fidock, moving up to first place. This was the first time Roy had lead a GPVWC event. After five laps Petter Kaasa was able to overtake him, shortly followed by Philip Cullen. Roy unfortunately began to suffer braking problems and with a wrong strategy he was only able to finish in eighth. But he was able to keep the car going after a to small radiator size. He scored his first points of the season and was happy with the result. At Abu Dhabi Roy qualified as 13th, but after the start he moved up to eighth. But the good start fade away when he spun. He continued in 13th, but he was able to overtake some drivers and after ten laps he was back in eighth. Then at the pit stops the was a big chaos. Team-mate Mal McKee was sitting in the pit-box on Roy's arrival, forcing the Dutchman to wait. No tyres were ready so Roy had to drive the whole race on the same mediums. He was able to keep them alive and finished tenth.

Roy was the bright light in a dark season for the Synergetic Motorsports team.

Roy was involved in the start crash at the Spanish Grand Prix. Adam spun his car and Roy had no were to go. Luckily he hadn't much damage and could continue the race. Due to problems of others and a good pace brought him the ninth place. At the glamorous race at Monaco Roy managed to qualify his car in tenth place. With a narrow start he couldn't manage to overtake someone, although he had one of his fast starts again. After a spin and a firm battle Roy was running in tenth and was trying to catch up Boyd Bryson. He decided to do his stop a few laps later, and that gave him the sixth spot in the race. He had a hard battle with Boyd until he spun and Roy had a gap around him. But in front of him Fidock and Grech lost much time and Roy tried to chase them down. But disaster struck. He lost control of his car and had a hard crash, which costed him his front wing. He tried to defend his sixth position, but had to less grip that he had to let them go, eventually finishing in ninth place. After the race Roy was very disappointed but said he had to move on.

Two weeks later they were in Montreal for a race around the fast track, which is one of his favorite ones. But things went different than expected. Roy qualified in fourth and again took the race lead. But a crash with Petter and Scott Bennett forced him to retire. At the Korean Grand Prix, Roy wasn't able to drive at all, losing valuable points again. With that in mind he gave everything he had and scored an impressive second place, his first podium in his GPVWC career in Turkey.

At the British Grand Prix Roy again had a great race, finishing fourth. Schroten scored his first pole position at Monza, another high-speed track. The joy was short-lived as things went downhill fast. In the second chicane Roy's brakes failed, spinning him around. He rejoined and wanted to overtake Scott and Marek Skrajnowski. They spun and Roy had nowhere to go, sending him straight into the wall. Roy had to retire after that hard crash. Belgium saw Roy not starting due to vacations. At his home grand prix, Roy gave everything he had to get back some points. The crowed cheered for him, and saw him finishing a slightly disappointing eighth position. His finish was something of a miracle after a hard crash could easily have ended his day. The German Grand Prix saw Roy finishing at a good fourth place, after a somewhat lonely race.

At the American Grand Prix, the Synergetic driver did not have the speed he wanted to, but still finished eighth, taking points again. At the Brazilian Grand Prix he finished fifth and two weeks later at the Japanese Grand Prix he finished sixth. A fight for the fifth place in the standings with Terence Grech was decided at Singapore. After Terence had some problems which send him out of the contest, Roy gave everything he had to try and finish on the podium. He finished fourth, not taking too much risk at the end of the race after some close moments. Roy ended up fifth in the standings, a very impressive result for the Dutchman.

At the post-season awards ceramics, Roy was again recognised by his peers. He was nominated for 'Best Driver of the Season' and 'Most Improved Driver Throughout the Season'. He eventually won the 'Most Improved Driver Throughout the Season' award.

2013

In mid-November, it was announced that Roy would drive for teams' championship runners-up CSG Racing for the 2013. He would partner Australian Jamez Shepherd.

Formula Challenge

2012

Roy was initially signed the reserve and test driver for Racing Team Schroten. He drove at the first race at Brands Hatch. He had a good qualify and started as seventh. At the feature race he had a bad start but could overtake some people back in the first lap, and he moved up to fifth. After the stops he found himself in fourth, holding that position to the flag. In the sprint race he once again had a bad start but couldn't move up in the field with a damaged car, taking fifth place.

After the first round he even stood third in the standings. But at round two he wasn't needed because the main drivers were both available. At round three at Italy he qualified as 17th, but he was involved in a start crash. He drove 14th with a damaged car when he hit his own team mate who had spun his car. Both drivers couldn't complete the race. In the sprint race he had a good start but was hit in the back by Gavin Thomas. He once again had a damaged car but he was still able to take 14th place.

In Slovenia, Roy had a really bad weekend, in which he retired from both races. In Japan things went better, taking a third and 12th position. It was his first podium in his Formula Challenge career. At Mid Ohio, Roy had some problems in the first race, finishing 18th. The second race went better and he finished eighth. In South Africa, Roy finished sixth and seventh, a good race meeting for him. In Ireland he again enjoyed a double points finish with tenth and seventh. Roy drove the races in France for Hene, the team ran by his brother Mike. Schroten took his second podium, a third place. In the second race he crossed the line in sixth.

The last race of the season saw Roy back driving for RTS again, and finished sixth in the first race, after being spun around. The last race saw Roy being involved in a massive crash, and he had to retire. Roy scored 162 points and ended tenth in the standings, after driving only the half amount of all the races.

It was announced that wouldn't drive in the Formula Challenge again in 2013, because of the new rules which limits drivers to only being allowed to drive in one division.
